(Her)oics: Women\u2019s Lived Experiences During the Coronavirus Pandemic<\/em> draws together the stories of fifty-two women across the U.S. during the Covid-19 pandemic. The collection encompasses the perspectives of women who are: front-line responders and recovering patients; going out to work, staying home to work, and losing their jobs; living with multiple generations and living in isolation; women grieving loved ones and celebrating new love; women preparing to give birth and supporting the dying. Although differing based on location, age, race, and health, they share the unique capacity of women to bring their strength, ingenuity and love\u2014for others and for self\u2014to an uncertain time. The anthology is inspired by both the risks of the pandemic inherent to women and their tremendous role in the country\u2019s response. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The naked observations made by the contributors to (Her)oics <\/em>highlight how the plight of women\u2014whether during a pandemic or or otherwise\u2014affects us all. While each story is personal, the reader\u2019s attention is called to political realities, and the need for systemic change if our country is to emerge as a humane and just society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
