Rebecca Faulkner is an award-winning London-born poet based in Brooklyn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is the author of Permit Me to Write My Own Ending,<\/em> (Write Bloody Publishing, 2023) a collection spanning generations and timescapes. From gritty explorations of a London adolescence, to haunting poems detailing love and adulthood in the US., Faulkner interrogates the emotional impact of historical trauma, navigating and sharply reframing nationality and memory. Kirkus called her defiant debut collection \u201cintense and unforgettable,\u201d a visceral dissection of patriarchy, deftly redefined through language and vivid imagery. Permit Me to Write My Own Ending <\/em>was a finalist for the 2024 Sheila Margaret Motton Book Prize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca was a 2023 poetry recipient of the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund for Women, the winner of Black Fox Literary Magazine\u2019s 2023 Writing Contest, and the 2022 winner of Sand Hills Literary Magazine\u2019s National Poetry Contest. Her poetry has been published and anthologized widely in the US and UK. She holds a BA in English Literature & Theatre Studies from the University of Leeds, an MA in Performance Studies from NYU, and a Ph.D. from the University of London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she\u2019s not writing, Rebecca dreams about the perfect line break while running her daily 5K in Prospect Park. As Managing Director of Arbutus<\/a>, the nonprofit founded by musician and artist David Byrne, Rebecca oversees and develops new projects designed to ensure that our picture of the world contains the joy that it should, and is accessible to everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her new collection, Daughters of the Minotaur<\/em>, engages with the life and work of five mid-century women artists. Both a powerful meditation on female identity and a celebration of artistic greatness, Daughters of the Minotaur <\/em>is a lyrical conversation, a subversive reimagining, and a renegade act of feminist invention.
