Beth Castrodale considers the farm that\u2019s been in her family for more than one hundred years sacred ground. It\u2019s also the inspiration for her latest novel, The Time of Reaping<\/em>, about a fourth-generation farmer who\u2019s fighting to hold onto her land in the face of development pressures and far darker forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Time of Reaping<\/em> is Beth\u2019s fifth novel and the second to be published by Regal House. Her first novel from Regal House, The Inhabitants<\/em>, won the Horror categories of the Independent Publisher Book Awards, the National Indie Excellence Awards, and the Best Book Awards. It was a finalist in the Horror category of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Her debut novel, Marion Hatley<\/em>, was a finalist for a Nilsen Prize for a First Novel from Southeast Missouri State University Press, and an excerpt from her second novel, In This Ground<\/em>, was a shortlist finalist for a William Faulkner \u2013 William Wisdom Creative Writing Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beth\u2019s own story began in a suburb of Pittsburgh, where she was born and where she began creating her own illustrated, staple-bound books about haunted houses and castles. Later, Beth and her family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she received a bachelor\u2019s degree in journalism from the Ohio State University. After graduating, she worked as a newspaper reporter until her love of books led her to the publishing field. She was a senior editor at Bedford\/St. Martin\u2019s and is the founding editor of the book-review website Small Press Picks. In addition to her novels, Beth\u2019s essays and short fiction have appeared in such publications as CrimeReads, Ars Medica, Printer\u2019s Devil Review, the Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine, and Writing and Wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beth lives in Boston with her husband and rescue greyhound. Currently, she\u2019s working on her sixth novel, about a woman who, at a time of turmoil in her life, returns to the beloved lake of her youth for what she hopes will be a time of calmness and reflection. Instead, she finds herself immersed in a mystery connected to the lake and to her past there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
